It’s been another great year at QuakeCon, with thousands of people coming from all over to hang out, play together, and get free stuff, all under the watchful eye of the people at id and Bethesda.
One of the biggest components to QuakeCon is the BYOC, (Bring Your Own Computer), which draws literally thousands of people from all across the country. Â Here’s a look at the area this year:
You can see there are tons of custom rigs, and there’s always someone to play with or against.
Vendors also provide a lot of SWAG and hands-on time with their products, with giveaways and competitions through the 4 day event. Â Here’s a short interview with an Alienware rep explaining what they love about QuakeCon, and what they had this year:
During the event, they also have demonstrations by various developers that show off upcoming titles. Â Unlike what you might see during a large Sony or Microsoft keynote, these can be hour-long sessions showing off a lot of detail about the title, even though the release date might be a year away. Â Both RAGE and Brink were shown in this manner, with the end of the Brink session even allowing Q&A. Â Some of these games are available to be played on the show floor, with Brink having 4 vs. 4 multiplayer, and Fallout: New Vegas being available too. Â For a completely FREE event that’s open to the public, this is all pretty amazing.
Be sure to check out our gallery below, and check back in a few days when we give away some stuff we picked up on the show floor!
