Microsoft Kinects with Dallas from E3

Texas-native turned Microsoft Software Engineer Laura Massey called back to Texas from E3 today, using Video Kinect, the new video-chatting software included as part of the new Kinect motion sensor that will launch this fall.

Midnight Gaming outgrows its expectations

Midnight Gaming Championship, or MGC, has been growing the past few years, beyond the expectations of its organizers. It used to be that is 30 or so people showed up for an event, it was considered a success. Now it seems like hundreds crowd in anywhere they can find space to get a chance to compete. Admittidly, the prizes have gotten a lot better, but it seems like the organizers don’t expect the turnout they get.

The Pokémon Regional Championships came to Arlington on May 29th, bringing out kids and adults from all over the country. Comprised of two divisions, youth and senior, there were hundreds of participants in both categories.

Harrah’s is working with MTV games to repeat last year’s Rock Band competition, adding a few new twists. Basically, bands of 3 or 4 members will compete in local events (of which Dallas will host one), with the top scorers from each local event winning a trip to Atlantic City to compete for the grand prize: $10,000 and a personal meeting with Ringo Starr! The Dallas event is taking place weekly at Dallas Woody’s Sports & Video Bar, on Sunday nights from 8 PM to midnight.
